Mother Love Stories: Jessica

Jess and I met in NYC, last May. Immediate connection, because we both hustle everyday to improve the lives of moms. Jess is the Co-Founder of the awesome Well Rounded New York blog. Hope you enjoy her story! XO, Rebecca

Having my second baby gave me a lot of perspective. These two little people that came from the same place, live under the same roof, and are nurtured by the same parents... they are so incredibly different. With my first baby, I correlated a lot of her personality and behavior to my own style of mothering. Was she like this because I did that? Was she like that because I did this? And then the next baby came along, and I did the same things, and yet it produced a different outcome.

Knowing that has helped me to let go of some of the pressure I place on myself to be a perfect mommy, to make all the "correct" decisions to create a perfect little human being. They are who they are. I still think about the decisions I make as a mom every second of every day, of course. But then I take a deep breath, and remind myself that I am doing the best I can, and that the best thing I can teach them, the best way I can mother them, is with lots and lots of love. The rest is up to them.
